Meet the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s George Huber Professor of Chemical & Biological Engineering College of Engineering |
Research area Developing new generations of catalysts, reactors, spectroscopic and imaging tools and computational models that are essential for understanding and controlling the chemical transformation of biomass-derived oxygenates to fuels.
What excites you about your work?
“We could improve the quality of life of people. Our society has so many environmental challenges, and we’re doing research we think could have an impact in five to twenty years.”
What do you hope to achieve?
“We hope to design new technologies that will allow us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, recycle more plastics and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.”
George is driven to mitigate environmental issues for the world, and his world-class research, collaboration with industry and entrepreneurial activities are already doing that. I’m excited about applications of his new discoveries.
