MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation announced that John Gransee will become WARF’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Gransee will oversee the accounting and finance group along with the information technology group for WARF. Gransee brings to his new role deep experience in leading finances and operations for global health care interests.
“John brings an exceptional and complementary skill set to this role,” said Erik Iverson, WARF’s Managing Director. “His financial acumen, leadership experience and expertise in the global marketplace is the perfect match for WARF.”
Since 2015 Gransee has served as Senior Vice President and CFO for Covance, Indianapolis, Indiana, a division of LabCorp based in Burlington, North Carolina. There he was responsible for business strategy and execution of the accounting, finance and pricing functions. He held positions at Covance with increasing responsibility since 2005 including Vice President R&D Labs Sample Management & Archive Services and Vice President of Global Operations – Central Laboratory, General Manager of Covance’s Genomics Laboratory in Seattle, Washington, and various financial leadership positions of increasing responsibility across the company. Prior to Covance Gransee spent 16 years at Baxter International Inc. primarily on the manufacturing and international side of the company, including an expatriate assignment in Paris, France.

Gransee succeeds Steve Mixtacki as CFO. Mixtacki announced his retirement in April 2017. A national search for the position has been underway since that time. Gransee will join WARF December 6, 2017.
Gransee received his Master’s in Business Administration from Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management in 2005 and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Illinois University – DeKalb, Illinois in 1988.
