Teosinte/W22 Crossed Lines
WARF: P180371US01

Inventors: Jerry Kermicle

The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) is seeking commercial partner interested in two corn lines: W22;TIC7 and W22;ga1 Tcb1-s.
Overview
A former UW-Madison genetics researcher, Jerry Kermicle, previously developed a corn line that contained a teosinte crossing barrier (TCB) which prevents the line from successfully crossing with any other corn line unless that corn line has a TCB trait (P00005US).
The Invention
The researcher has continued to develop other crosses involving that original TCB line and has now developed two new maize lines (W22; TIC7: and W22;ga1 Tcb1-s) to provide additional genetic diversity as compared to the original W22 (TCB) line.
Applications
  • Commercial breeding
Key Benefits
  • Provide additional genetic diversity as compared to the original W22 (TCB) line
