The Invention
A UW-Madison researcher has developed a method to generate diagnostic quality nephrographic phase images from a single (using dual-energy) or two conventional CT urography acquisitions. The method includes a trained deep learning model to produce the images not actually acquired, thereby substantially reducing radiation dose in CT urography. In the case of dual energy this innovation additionally improves patient throughput on the CT scanner.
